Hi, and welcome.
I’m so glad you’re here.
This little corner of the internet is something I’ve been quietly dreaming about for a while—a space to write, reflect, and share the human side of being a therapist, a single parent, and someone trying to live with care and presence in a noisy world.
By day, I’m a counsellor in private practice, working in person in the UK and internationally online. I hold space for others as they navigate grief, anxiety, boundaries, and the beautifully complex terrain of being human. But outside the therapy room, I’m also making packed lunches, wrestling with mountains of laundry, and learning (sometimes the hard way) how to hold space for myself too.
This newsletter is my in-between space.
A sofa, not a podium.
A conversation, not a lecture.
A pause, not a performance.
What to expect
Each week (or thereabouts), I’ll share:
Gentle reflections on life, therapy, and parenting
Tools and practices I’ve found helpful—for clients, myself, or both
Honest thoughts on emotional labour, burnout, and boundaries
The odd poem, quote, or grounding exercise when words feel too tight
Some posts will be free to all. Others, a little deeper or more personal, will be just for paid subscribers—if you feel moved to support this space, I’d be incredibly grateful. But mostly, I just hope it feels like a comforting cup of something warm, arriving in your inbox when you need it.
Why now?
Because life is full. And fast. And sometimes lonely.
Because we need more soft spaces to land.
Because, like the tides, our emotions come and go—and I want to write from within them, not just about them.
So whether you're a fellow therapist, a parent, someone on a healing journey, or just here out of curiosity—thank you. There’s a spot on the sofa for you.
Warmly,
Kaori
